Pugs are one of the oldest breeds known. They are of Chinese origins and according to the Pug Dog Club Of America, "They were prized possessions of the emperors of China and lived in a most luxurious atmosphere and at times were even guarded by soldiers.
Pugs are a toy breed that love to be lap dogs. Generally they should weigh between 14 and 18 lbs., but more importantly their weight should be proportional to their build and height. They should be square with a round face.
